Muhyiddin’s Abuse-of-Power and Money Laundering Trial Resumes in Kuala Lumpur

The corruption trial of former Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has resumed at Kuala Lumpur’s Special Corruption High Court.
Muhyiddin faces four charges of using his position to obtain RM232.5 million for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia in connection with the Jana Wibawa programme, and three charges of receiving RM200 million allegedly derived from illegal activity.
Witnesses on 13 April included bank and Registrar of Societies officials, as prosecutors continued presenting evidence on payments into Bersatu accounts and the party’s governance. Muhyiddin has denied wrongdoing, and the charges remain unproven.
