Singapore Acts Against Two Gatekeepers Linked to S$3 Billion Money Laundering Case

Singapore has taken further action against professional intermediaries linked to the country’s S$3 billion money laundering case.
Conveyancing lawyer Chan I-Fei Julia was charged with abetting the creation of a false document connected to a property purchase involving an associate of one of the 10 convicted foreign nationals. The charge has not been proven in court.
In a separate but related proceeding, former corporate services provider Wang Junjie was sentenced to 32 weeks’ imprisonment. He admitted conspiring to submit false company-income information to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and making false declarations to the Ministry of Manpower in support of employment-pass renewals.
The cases extend enforcement beyond the principal offenders to lawyers and corporate service providers that serve as gatekeepers to the financial system.
