BRICS AML/CFT Training Programme to Bring Financial Intelligence and Supervisory Authorities to India

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) will host a five-day BRICS capacity-building programme on anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism from 7 to 11 September 2026 in Gandhinagar, India.

The programme, titled Emerging Risks, FATF Methodologies & BRICS Best Practices, is being organised by RRU in collaboration with the FATF Cell of India’s Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, as part of India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.

FIUs, supervisors and enforcement authorities in focus

RRU said the programme will bring together policymakers, Financial Intelligence Unit professionals, financial supervisors, central-bank officials, law-enforcement bodies and prosecution authorities from BRICS member states.

Sessions are expected to cover changing money-laundering, terrorist-financing and proliferation-financing risks, FATF methodologies, emerging technology-related threats, cross-border illicit financial flows and practical approaches to strengthening national AML/CFT frameworks.

The format includes expert-led sessions, country perspectives, simulations and strategic discussions intended to support peer learning, operational knowledge-sharing and stronger institutional cooperation. RRU has said the programme is designed to strengthen the technical capacity of participating authorities to prevent, detect and investigate financial crime across jurisdictions.

The training is scheduled immediately before the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi from 11 to 13 September. RRU says it has previously organised 61 specialised international training programmes involving more than 2,000 participants from 85 countries across areas including financial crime, cybersecurity, policing and forensics.

For AML practitioners, the programme is notable for bringing operational and supervisory authorities into the same multilateral training setting, with FATF methodology and cross-border cooperation at the centre of the agenda.
