ACAMS Northern California Event to Examine Emerging Payments, AML Threats and AI

The ACAMS Northern California Chapter will hold its 14th Annual Emerging Payments & Technologies event on September 10, 2026, in Foster City, California, bringing together compliance, regulatory, fintech and technology professionals to examine how payments innovation is changing financial-crime risk.
The in-person programme runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PST, followed by networking, and provides four ACAMS credits. According to ACAMS, the event is designed around the innovations and challenges shaping the future of payments and financial-crime compliance.
AML threats, payments risk and AI
The agenda includes a session on Emerging Financial Crimes: The Next Generation of AML Threats, followed by a panel on the future of payments and the fraud and financial-crime risks accompanying new payment technologies.
A dedicated session, The AI Lifecycle in AML: From Innovation to Operational Excellence, will examine how artificial intelligence is being moved from experimentation into operational AML environments. The programme will conclude with technology demonstrations focused on RegTech innovation.
Speakers include representatives from Visa, the FBI, Google, Oscilar, FinScan, GoCardless and other financial-crime and payments organisations. The speaker roster includes Visa’s Vice President for BSA/AML and Sanctions, an FBI supervisory special agent, and Google’s Director of Payments Compliance.
The event illustrates how AML, fraud, payments compliance and technology are increasingly being treated as connected control problems rather than separate functions, particularly as financial institutions deploy AI and new payment infrastructure.
