FATF President Giles Thomson to Deliver Keynote at IAFCS 2026 in London

Financial Action Task Force (FATF) President Giles Thomson is set to deliver a keynote address at the International Anti-Financial Crime Summit 2026 (IAFCS 2026) in London on 7 October.

Thomson began his two-year term as FATF President in July 2026 after being appointed by the FATF Plenary earlier this year. Before taking the presidency, he served as FATF Vice-President and as the United Kingdom’s Director for Economic Crime and Sanctions at HM Treasury, with responsibility for UK anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing policy and financial sanctions.

IAFCS 2026 will take place at Hilton London Tower Bridge and is expected to bring together representatives from financial institutions, regulators, law-enforcement bodies and financial-crime technology providers. Previously announced speakers include senior financial-crime leaders from the UK Financial Conduct Authority, ING and Monzo.

The keynote comes early in Thomson’s 2026–2028 FATF presidency, a period in which the organisation is advancing new strategic priorities and continuing work on evolving money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation-financing risks.

For AML and financial-crime professionals, the address will provide an early opportunity to hear directly from the new FATF President on the organisation’s priorities and the direction of the global AML/CFT agenda.
