Basware Signs Agreement to Acquire Trustpair, Extending Invoice Controls Into Payment Fraud Prevention

Basware and Trustpair’s shareholders have signed a binding agreement under which Basware plans to acquire Trustpair, extending Basware’s invoice lifecycle platform into payment fraud prevention.

Announced on 26 August 2026, the proposed transaction is intended to connect controls across the full invoice-to-payment process: Basware verifies that an invoice is legitimate and approved, while Trustpair validates that payment is directed to the intended supplier account. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Trustpair to remain operationally independent

Trustpair, founded in 2017, provides supplier-account validation at onboarding, when bank details change and before payment authorisation. Its platform works alongside ERP, procurement and treasury systems including SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Zycus, Ivalua, Jaggaer and Kyriba.

Basware said that, after completion, Trustpair will continue to operate and go to market independently as a Basware company. The company also plans to combine Trustpair’s payment-fraud capabilities with intelligence from Basware’s platform, which spans 2.5 billion invoices and 20 million suppliers.

Trustpair says it protects payments for more than 600 organisations and operates in New York, Paris and London. Basware serves more than 6,500 customers globally. The acquisition would follow Basware’s earlier acquisitions of Glantus, AP Matching and Redmap between 2023 and 2025.

Transaction expected to close later in 2026

The companies expect the transaction to complete later in 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Trustpair’s existing investors and shareholders, including Axeleo Capital, Breega and Tikehau Capital, are expected to continue supporting the business following the transaction.

The deal reflects a broader convergence between accounts-payable automation, supplier validation and fraud controls. As payment processes become faster and impersonation attacks become more sophisticated, controls increasingly need to validate not only the invoice and supplier but also the destination account immediately before funds are released.
