Regula and WIDTH Integrate Identity Evidence Into End-to-End Compliance Workflows

Identity verification provider Regula and compliance decision-intelligence platform WIDTH announced a technology partnership on 25 August 2026 that will integrate verified identity evidence directly into broader compliance workflows.

Under the integration, Regula Document Reader SDK will be embedded into the WIDTH platform. Identity data authenticated during onboarding can then form part of a customer’s ongoing risk profile instead of remaining isolated inside a separate identity-verification system.

Identity evidence moves beyond onboarding

According to Regula, the combined workflow links document authentication and verified identity data with sanctions and PEP screening, KYB information, transaction monitoring, investigations, case management and audit records. This allows compliance teams to review the underlying identity evidence alongside other customer and transaction-risk signals when deciding whether to approve, escalate or reject a case.

The companies said the integration is intended for regulated sectors including financial institutions, payment providers, digital-asset businesses and corporate service providers. It is designed to preserve identity evidence for later investigations and regulatory reviews rather than treating identity verification as a one-time onboarding result.

Regula said its technology authenticates identity documents and validates the data they contain, while WIDTH connects that evidence to wider customer-risk and financial-crime controls. No financial terms for the partnership were disclosed.

Auditability is a central focus

The announcement also draws on Regula’s recent global research, which found that nearly four in ten organisations struggle to explain identity-based decisions during audits or regulatory reviews. The partnership therefore focuses not only on completing an identity check, but on retaining evidence that can support screening, monitoring, investigations and subsequent audit decisions throughout the customer lifecycle.

For AML and KYC teams, the development reflects a broader move toward combining identity verification with ongoing risk assessment rather than operating IDV as a standalone onboarding control. The practical value will depend on how institutions govern the integrated data, escalation rules and audit trail in production.
