UK Gambling Commission Suspends BresBet and Bet St George Over Suspected AML Failings
The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the operating licences of BresBet Ltd and Bet St George Ltd after enquiries identified suspected anti-money laundering and social responsibility failings.
The suspensions took effect immediately on 28 August 2026. BresBet operates bresbet.com under operating licence 065252-R-340096-002, while Bet St George Ltd operates betstgeorge.com under licence 067818-R-341699-001.
The Commission has opened reviews of both licences under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005. The suspensions will remain in place until the regulator is satisfied that the businesses are compliant.
The regulator has not yet published detailed findings on the suspected AML deficiencies, and the action should not be treated as a final determination that either operator breached its licence conditions. At this stage, the matter is an ongoing regulatory review combined with an immediate licence suspension.
During the suspension, both operators are expected to treat customers fairly and keep them informed of developments affecting them. Customers can still access their accounts and withdraw funds.
For gambling operators, the action is another indication that suspected AML control weaknesses can trigger immediate supervisory intervention before a full enforcement review is completed.
