UK Gambling Commission Suspends Targetlocal Remote Licence Over AML Failings

The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the combined remote operating licence of Targetlocal Ltd, which trades as Ken Howell’s Sports Betting, after regulatory enquiries identified anti-money laundering failings.

The suspension covers Targetlocal’s online casino, sports betting and virtual-event betting business under remote operating licence 000422-R-336567-002. The Commission said the measure took effect immediately and that it has opened a review of the licence under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005.

The regulator has not published details of the specific AML deficiencies found during its enquiries. It said the suspension will remain in place until it is satisfied that the business is compliant.

Customers can continue to access their accounts and withdraw funds during the suspension. The Commission has told Targetlocal to treat consumers fairly and keep them informed of developments affecting them.

The action does not affect Targetlocal’s non-remote general betting standard licence. The Commission’s public register continues to show the company’s land-based general betting licence as active, while the relevant remote casino and betting permissions are suspended.
