Union of Arab Banks Training Focuses on Agentic AI and AML/CFT Governance

The Union of Arab Banks is holding a two-day training programme on 13–14 August 2026 focused on governing autonomous banking systems and the use of agentic AI in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing.
The programme, titled Governing the Autonomous Bank, places AI governance alongside AML/CFT risk management as banks explore more autonomous technologies across financial operations and compliance.
The event is part of the Union of Arab Banks’ professional training programme for the regional banking sector. Its timing reflects a growing compliance challenge for banks: AI tools can increase the speed and scale of monitoring and investigation, but their use also raises questions around governance, accountability, explainability and human oversight.
For financial-crime teams, agentic AI is increasingly moving from a technology discussion into an operating-model question. Training initiatives that connect AI deployment directly with AML/CFT governance can help institutions assess where automation is appropriate and where accountable human control remains necessary.
